Hard Drive Failures
Hard drives, instead of being the main storage media, can contrarily fail in a number of ways. The ultimate ruin is to the data, which get meandered in the hives of hard drive. The failure categories can be of four types: logical, mechanical, firmware corruption and electronic. The ultimate medicine to such data loss incidents is hard disk recovery. But, let’s first discuss these failure types in detail.
Logical Failures: This forms the simplest, least severe and the most easy to cure hard drive failure case. However, the level may vary from simple file deletion, curable through simple hard disk recovery software, to the harsh file system corruption, which may need advanced utilities. The spot point is where you find your file inaccessible or the system becomes slow in response or the application may start behaving abruptly or the system may not start at all.
Nothing is wrong with the drive physically, so the case is considered to be easily resolvable through third party hard disk recovery software. The most effective prevention way would be to have regular disk defragmentation, updated anti-virus software, safe working with the data and more.
Mechanical Failures: Comparatively more serious than any other failures, these arise when the mechanical component(s) of the hard drive is undergoing through the problematic phase. Read/ write head crash is the common one in this category, arising due to its contact with the hard drive platters, may be due to some physical shock, power surges, static electricity or its failure. These can be detected by the unusual grinding or knocking sound from the hard drive.
For cure, turn off the system immediately and consult the PC troubleshooting professionals for help. The physical assembly of the hard drive is disturbed here and the replacement of the damaged components is done to solve the issue, which requires a dust-free environment.
